VBRA
The VBRA are a governing body who regularly audit their members work by way of independant customer satisfaction surveys, they audit the equipment, safety, technical know how. Had an Accident?
First steps
1.Get the name and address, contact details and vehicle registration of other parties involved.
2. Take down their insurance details/company.
3. Get the third party insurers agreement before starting repairs.
4. Make sure that your vehicle is roadworthy before driving it again, for example that there is no dangerous bodywork that could injure other road users and that your indicators are in working order and there are no leaking fluids.

When involved in a road traffic accident, you all too often find that your insurance claim particulars are dealt with over the phone and you are bullied into accepting your insurer's choice of repairer. But you have rights..

Know Your Rights
You are only required to provide one insurance claim estimate for the relevant repairs for your car at a garage of your choosing. Only if the insurers engineer and your garage of choice can not agree on an estimate figure do you need to get a second estimate. The insurer must meet all reasonable costs of repair. There are very few exceptions to this rule, your insurers can only insist that you use their choice of garage, even if it is written into your contract, if it was made perfectly and absolutely clear at time of sale that this was the case.
